The Karic Foundation - Nicosia

The
Karic Foundation branch in Cyprus was founded in 1992 and its president is Slavica Karic. The
branch has organized a large number of humanitarian actions and cultural gatherings.
Throughout 1993 and 1994
there was a constant action for the collection of humanitarian aid for refugees
who came to Serbia and Yugoslavia fleeing the war in Croatia and Bosnia. Tens of
containers of clothing, footwear, bedding and medicines were collected and the Foundation
sent them to Serbia, Kosovo and Montenegro. |

great support from Cypriot public for our activities, and also the support of the
President and the Cypriot Orthodox Church. Mrs. Lili Astilijano Kleridis, the wife of the
Cypriot president, participated actively in our collection", says the president of
the Karic Foundation branch in Cyprus, Mrs. Slavica Karic. |

Together with the
Yugoslav embassy in Nicosia and with the help of the local branches of Yugoslav firms, the
Foundation has organized numerous humanitarian and cultural manifestations.
In 1996, at the Hilton hotel it organized "Our Thanks
to the Cypriot people" manifestation with the participation of numerous artists from
Yugoslavia. |
| Painting auctions, sale exhibitions of different works of art and
charity dinners were organized. Proceeds from a number of manifestations
were given to help Cypriot children suffering from leukemia and in hospital. "We
wanted to repay the Cypriots for their unselfish help.
Therefore the Foundation
together with other branches of Yugoslav companies organized fund raising activities for
Cypriot organizations and institutions. A great contribution was by the
director of Beogradska Banka Borka Vucic and the wife of our ambassador in Nicosia Mrs.
