The award was given to Milos Vasic (1947, Belgrade), journalist from the Vreme monthly magazine. Milos Vasic follows and analyses goings-on on our political scene as well as behind it, takes notes and ‘has an opinion, and calls attention’ (as he likes to put it) to everything that has been attached to this weak democratic move in Serbia. In the same manner, Milos Vasic has been noting down with discontent the weakness, greediness, or at least the incapability of the new ruling class to resist power, money, and the demimonde from the entertainment world to the criminal underworld, and organised crime. The series of articles published in the Vreme since the assassination of Djindjic, hundreds of interviews, research, reading and comparing thousands of documents about the circumstances that led to the assassination of the prime minister, have resulted in a book The Assassination of Zoran Djindjic
